INGOLSTADT
There are some nice places and things to do in Ingolstadt:
Audi Museum if you are interested in cars and technology. Audi is the city's largest employer and has left its mark on Ingolstadt
The old town (best reached on foot, or public car park "Hallenbad", Jahnstraße, 85049 Ingolstadt): it is a beautiful medieval old town with well-preserved buildings, including a fortress and churches. Ingolstadt is characterised by a relaxed atmosphere. Indulge yourself by the somewhat slower pace of life away from the metropolises and enjoy the genuine small-town charm.
You can visit some of the towers from which you can enjoy a good view.
We also recommend leaving the large streets of the old town, as there are nice cafés and restaurants in the smaller streets.
Good, authentic Italian cuisine is served at La Pizzeria (please book in advance). A German and international restaurant is "Das Mo neue Galerie". In spring, the old town has a pleasant atmosphere with many restaurants offering outdoor seating, for example in Dollstraße.
We have tried them ourselves and can also explicitly recommend
Restaurant Daniel with a small beer garden in the courtyard (German cuisine)
La Locanda, an Italian restaurant that serves excellent pasta dishes, among other things (outside the usual classics)
Bar Nero for an aperitif or breakfast. The cornetti are first class and there is nice outdoor seating.
Between the Konrad Adenauer Bridge and the Donausteg pedestrian bridge, it is worth crossing the river and walking along the south bank of the Danube. You can visit the Tilly Fortress and the surrounding Klenzepark. We recommend that you check the opening hours of the fortress online in advance.
The Museum of Concrete Art has a good exhibition on recent and contemporary art and design of the 21st century.
Many of our guests enjoyed the Westpark, a large, green city park.
Outlet shopping in the Ingolstadt Village shopping centre with many brands and good prices.
Sarah's Eiscafe, a good ice cream parlour/bistro, is within walking distance of our design apartment. From our Oldtown-Studio and for visits to the old town, we recommend Café Himmelblau.
